Character of God: Compassion || Bible Project.
We are so excited to launch the seventh season of BibleProject with a new Word Study video! This season we will be looking at the words God uses to describe himself in Exodus 34:6–7. In this passage, the first God uses to describe himself is compassionate, or in Hebrew, rakhum. This word has fascinating connections in the Hebrew Bible and is actually related to the Hebrew word for “womb.” God’s compassion is active and nurturing and at the core of who he is. Watch our newest video, Character of God: Compassion.
God is Like a Nursing MotherThe Bible uses many images to describe the character of God, but few are quite as striking as the image of a nursing mother. When God describes himself to Moses in Exodus 34:6–7, the first word he uses is “compassionate,” or rakhum, a Hebrew word closely related to the word “womb.” In our latest blog post, God is Like a Nursing Mother, we explore the portrait of God as a parent who expresses deep emotion and tender care.
